Art Deco Dover Hall Wedding: Mark & Lauren

Mark & Lauren are a couple we just can’t get enough of; they got married in a castle, had the most gorgeous of reception details, and yet the day remained focused simply on the two of them and their love for each other.  We were honored to document their intimate wedding day, and thrilled to share just a small handful of details from their Dover Hall celebration!

The bedroom suite at Dover feels like is was designed just to hang a wedding dress…specifically Lauren’s gorgeous gown!

A really personal detail was Lauren’s engagement ring, which is an authentic 1920’s ring! It inspired the Art Deco vibe seen throughout the day, and I think you can see why!dover_hall_art_deco_wedding04
Mark surprised his future wife with this gorgeous choker, and she was so touched, she chose to wear it in place of her wedding jewelry!

Lauren, those LASHES! dover_hall_art_deco_wedding10

The details of Dover Hall could not have been more perfect to host such an artistic wedding! We couldn’t resist capturing a few extra details to highlight what a wonderful fit this venue was….

Meanwhile, Mark & his sister relaxed before the ceremony in the game room, which made the perfect setting for a hand of cards and a few portraits.

Lauren chose an alternative to the traditional aisle, and instead walked across the patio and down the altar steps to meet her almost-husband! It was a lovely!

The way these two look at each other…’s like a heart-eyes emoji in real life.

Celebrating being officially MARRIED!!!

After family photos, we had just enough evening light left for a few portraits around the estate. We think they look like they are right at home!

One of the major perks of having full service wedding coordination is that they can help foresee timeline issues, and ensure there is plenty of time to capture all the important details. Kerri, the genius behind Blush Events, made sure we were able to access the fully set ballroom about an hour before the ceremony. We’re SO glad she did, because these details are STUNNING!

Lauren & Mark were clearly ready to get their party started!

After sharing a first dance, a round of lovely toasts, and of course, cake, the dance floor was hopping all night!

We’ll leave you with this sweet moment between the newlyweds. Pictures like this can’t be recreated from pinterest, or put on a shot list. They appear during the in-between moments. Because Lauren & Mark planned a wedding day with a little room to breathe, and because they trusted us to photograph the essence of their day at it naturally unfolded, we were able to capture a little magic when no one else was looking.

Lauren & Mark, may you look at each other this way for the rest of your lives! It was an honor documenting your day! Special thanks to the amazing team of vendors who made it possible.

Boathouse At Sunday Park: Cynthia & Henry

It was a gorgeous Saturday afternoon, the kind of weather you pray for if you’ve planned a September wedding in Virginia. And if any one deserved such a gorgeous day to get married, it’s Cynthia & Henry. There aren’t enough adjectives to describe how sweet these two are together, and since we happen to have a bunch of stunning images stashed on our computers, we’ll just have to show you!

Cynthia & Henry opted for a first look, which turned out to be a fabulous decision, because it allowed them to wrap up their post-ceremony photos a little quicker, and also resulted in these adorable photos. Somethings you can’t  quite capture in front of 80 of your closest friends…sunday_park_garden_boathouse_wedding_02

Off to get hitched! And check out the stunning detail on this dress from Urban Set Bride…..

One of our favorite things about weddings at Sunday Park is the naturally pretty details that come along with it! We also adore the recent upgrades they have made to the already beautiful  outdoor ceremony space; just when we thought our favorite venue couldn’t get any better!sunday_park_garden_boathouse_wedding_11

Cynthia & Henry opted for an unplugged ceremony, which we love. It gives guest more of a chance to be present, and it takes down some potential road blocks for us during the vows…..translation…better ceremony photos!!sunday_park_garden_boathouse_wedding_13

Even with a first look, you STILL get the moment, that overwhelming feeling of seeing each other with just a short aisle between you and being married!sunday_park_garden_boathouse_wedding_16

Such a good looking wedding party, we’re suspicious they didn’t choose solely on being photogenic! sunday_park_garden_boathouse_wedding_21

The flowers + the romantic updo, it’s so beautiful! . Not sure we’ve ever taken so many photos of the back of someone’s head 🙂sunday_park_garden_boathouse_wedding_24

Once we headed inside, Cynthia & Henry enjoyed their first dance as husband and wife. Just as the music started to play, the golden rays started bursting in through the window….we’ll take that as a sign. 🙂sunday_park_garden_boathouse_wedding_27

Once dinner began, we slipped back outside for a few evening portraits. The view of the lake alone is enough reason to get married at Sunday Park!

Look at this AMAZING family heirloom ring…we would say this qualifies as something old and something blue!sunday_park_garden_boathouse_wedding_31

The happy couple and their sweet friends spent the rest of the evening dancing & enjoying each other’s company. The personal touches throughout the reception made the night one their guests would be sure to remember!sunday_park_garden_boathouse_wedding_36

sunday_park_garden_boathouse_wedding_40 A sweet moment towards the end of the night was an instant classic! Cynthia & Henry, a million happy wishes to you; thank you for the incredibly honor of documenting your wedding day!

Glamorous DC Wedding: Jasmine & Matt

We knew after Jasmine & Matt’s engagement session that this wedding was going to be one for the books, but there’s no way we could have predicted how romantic and downright FUN this day would be! Jasmine thought of absolutely everything to ensure that her guest’s enjoyed the wedding, right down to a custom snapchat filter.  From the moment we arrived, we could sense how much these two care about their friends & family, and how fiercely they are loved in return. Jasmine & Matt, your wedding day was such a selection of your love for each other, and we were so thrilled to document it! Choosing favorite to share was a tough job; let’s just say this wedding will probably be making appearances on our instagram feed for a really long time!

Meanwhile, the guys were attempting to work some bowtie magic. which was no small feat. Matt was possibly the sweetest almost-husband in history; he grinned from ear to ear as he talked about Jasmine, how excited her was to marry her, and even played the first dance song for us to hear.

Once we got the guys tucked away, it was time to get the ceremony rolling! Up the aisle, Miss Westbrooks…..2016-09-13_0004

Plenty of smiles + vows….

2016-09-13_0028and back down the aisle, officially the ROGERS!!2016-09-13_0008

When we headed outside for portraits, we had exactly 20 minutes of light to work with. For most people, this would be stressful, but Jasmine’s response was so perfect; “What’s a wedding without a little hustle?” They didn’t miss a beat as we rolled through family portraits, wedding party portraits, and of course the best for last…..newlywed portraits!!dsc_7503

Hard to believe that we were in one of the busiest intersections in DC with almost no light left!!2016-09-13_0017

Once the reception got rolling, the party didn’t stop. Dancing, toasts filled with laughter and heartfelt tears…

2016-09-13_0020 2016-09-13_0029

Jasmine & Matt chose to end their night with an epic ballon drop during their last dance together….we’ll take this over a sparkler exit any day!!

Jasmine & Matt, your day was magical from beginning to end, and we’re so thrilled we got to document it. We’ve loved getting to know you and can’t wait to see what’s next for the Rogers!!

Jamie & Justin’s Lydia Mountain Wedding

If you like sunshine, mountain views & weddings with a personal touch, then you are going to LOVE this wedding! We’re pretty sure the weather gods agree, because this was literally the first warm & sunny day of the year; Jamie told us that even 2 days before hand, nothing was bloomed. The setting was so perfect for such a sweet couple! We started our morning at the girls cabin, where Jamie proved to be the most calm, collected & happy bride we’ve met….

The flower girl wrote the most precious note to Justin, which she promptly hand delivered.

Jamie took everyone’s breath away, but Justin was the most overwhelmed with love as his bride came down the aisle.

Jamie & Justin shared a sailors knot ceremony during their vows, which was almost as sweet as their first kiss!

Jamie & Justin greeted all their guests with a thoughtful receiving line following the ceremony, which allowed us the opportunity to capture these candid moments.

charlottesville_wedding_photographers_020 charlottesville_wedding_photographers_021 Jamie & Justin, we are so grateful that you allowed us extra time to spend on your portraits, because it couldn’t have been more beautiful. We jokingly asked if they could get married every weekend, because we could document them for the rest of forever and not get tired of it!

Jamie & Justin planned an amazing evening with their friends and family, with dinner served in the open air pavilion over looking the mountains.

A Garden Wedding: Dave & Karen

When the Director of the Richmond’s Historic Garden Week, with the Garden Club of Virginia, gets married – you can bet there were a lot of beautiful floral decorations incorporated into this backyard wedding.  Dave, being a videographer, staged every detail – even the cloud coverage for beautiful light!  The couple began their day with a morning ceremony in the backyard of there home.  In the presence of family they were married by the friend who brought them together.  They wanted to emphasize that their marriage was the blending of their two families and Karen’s daughters had the special role of walking their mother down the aisle.  In the evening they hosted a party at the Kent-Valentine House, the headquarters for the Garden Club of Virginia.  The family celebrated with friends from all over the globe who flew in to be a part of this couple’s special day. With Mosaic catering and a special gift by a friend who happens to own Belmont Butchery , they all enjoyed amazing food in a stunningly classic, Richmond setting.

DSC_8879_smKaren and her daughters worked all through the spring and summer together to make their yard perfect in time for the wedding.

A Downtown Richmond Engagement: Jasmine & Matt

When Jasmine emailed us to describe what her ideal engagement session location would look like, she told me how they always admire the Richmond skyline when driving over the bridge. Getting the stunning view in good light would mean meeting at the crack of dawn, and they didn’t hesitate for a second. We started off at this gorgeous city overlook, and the moment as we began shooting, it was clear how perfect these two are together.

We moved on to explore Libby Park; it was fun to show Jasmine & Matt a part of Richmond they never saw during their time living here. As beautiful as it is, they only had eyes for each other.richmond_engagement_downtown004 2015-07-17_0001

One of the best parts of Libby Hill is the diversity of  the location. Of course Jasmine & Matt made everything look like perfection…

We’ll end with this favorite shot. It’s easy to see how happy this sweet couple is together. Jasmine & Matt, we can’t wait for your wedding!richmond_engagement_downtown006

Maggie & Jeremy: A Waterfront Wedding at The Boathouse at Rockett’s Landing

Through most of the portrait session, we simply asked these two to keep looking at each other.  Their interactions were so sweet and beautiful, they didn’t need much convincing from us to cuddle up and show their fondness and love.  For the day, the couple’s main focus was on their friends and family, many of which traveled all the way from the Caribbean Islands to attend the wedding.  They brought their favorite DJ to Richmond from Philadelphia, to throw a party worthy of a night club.  From the time their guests finished eating, the glow sticks came out and the dancing never let up!  Congratulations Maggie and Jeremy, enjoy your sneak peeks!

We love it when the guys have fun and get into pictures!

The center pieces included family heirlooms.  We loved it!

And they have a sense of humor to top it off!

We can say with out hesitation that Nick and Val are one of the sweetest couples we have ever worked with. The way he looks at her is heart melting; just wait until you see how his jaw dropped when he saw her coming down the aisle!  These two had a beautiful late afternoon ceremony at Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens. Val must have a direct line to the weather man, because it was a perfectly sunny spring day.  We were honored to document their love story!Richmond Virginia Lewis Ginter Wedding Photos Richmond Virginia Lewis Ginter Wedding Photos Richmond Virginia Lewis Ginter Wedding PhotosRichmond Virginia Lewis Ginter Wedding Photos Richmond Virginia Lewis Ginter Wedding Photos Richmond Virginia Lewis Ginter Wedding Photos Richmond Virginia Lewis Ginter Wedding Photos Richmond Virginia Lewis Ginter Wedding Photos Richmond Virginia Lewis Ginter Wedding Photos Richmond Virginia Lewis Ginter Wedding Photos Richmond Virginia Lewis Ginter Wedding Photos Richmond Virginia Lewis Ginter Wedding Photos Richmond Virginia Lewis Ginter Wedding Photos Richmond Virginia Lewis Ginter Wedding Photos Richmond Virginia Lewis Ginter Wedding PhotosRichmond Virginia Lewis Ginter Wedding Photos Richmond Virginia Lewis Ginter Wedding Photos
